A member asked:

Does atorvastatin (80mg) raise alt ? if so, in what percentage of people? and by how much is deemed acceptable?

Rarely yes.: Usually < twice upper limit of normal. But it also depends on your risk factors. Consult with your doctor who prescribed Lipitor (atorvastatin). There are other statins that might not cause abnormal blood tests in your case.

See below: About 10% of people taking a statin have elevated ALT. If it exceeds three times the upper limit of normal, it should be evaluated and change of medication considered.
