6 wks gestation: We routinely see the fetal pole and heart motion at about 6 weeks gestation (weeks from last menses) using transvaginal ultrasound. The better timing is to measure from known ovulation, IUI or egg retrieval and then 4 weeks later. We can often see sac at 5.5 weeks and normal pg may not see heart motion until 6.5 weeks. Heart motion very good sign - miscarriage drops to 3-5%. Best wishes.
