Viral infection: Group C strep is a normal bacteria that usually does not cause sore throat. (Group A is the only kind of strep likely to cause sore throat.) Most likely you have a viral infection and simply carrying the strep. Viruses do not respond to antibiotics, so no surprise it didn't help. Discuss with your doctor.
