A member asked:

I have abnormally low salivary cortisol, and abnormally high blood cortisol. doctor won't treat with hc due to blood results. is this advisable?

See endocrinologist: Cortisol varies throughout the day, so a random cortisol does not tell you much. If you think cortisol is low, you test to see if you can stimulate it (with an acth test). If you think the cortisol is too high, you try to suppress it with dexamethasone. Although this is complicated, it is the bread/butter of an endocrinologist.
