ACTH Stim Test: ACTH stim test is used to see if one's adrenal glands respond properly to stimulation. Think of AM cortisol as a snapshot; it does not tell if your adrenal glands respond. The test: draw blood cortisol, then give synthetic ACTH. Then after 30min and 60 min (usually), blood cortisol is then drawn. The cortisol level in the blood should rise significantly. If not, adrenal function is impaired.
