Specific X-rays.: More than likely, under-lying toe bone, along with shoe pressure, are causing the problem. Have your foot x-rayed and request that a small lead marker be taped to the callus. X-ray your foot, both with and without your shoes on. The image should show both the callus area and the underlying bones that are potentially causing the problem. The choice will be to change shoe style of remodel the bones.
