Safe, worth a try but: GABA is a neurotransmitter that is calming. Alcohol and drugs like Valium bind to GABA receptors. However, it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier so one has to take high doses (about 1000 mg) to see much benefit. There is little research on it but it is safe to try. Other supps like L-Theanine, Holy Basil, Magnesium, Ashwagandha and 5-HTP may help more. See http://tinyurl.com/ypz6a
