Causes: All abscesses are usually treated by drainage, sometimes they pop on their own after treatment with medicine, sometimes need to be opened surgically. The cause depends on the location; cheek abscess is most often of dental origin, from a cavity, but that's a question best asked of the surgeon who does the drainage.
