I'm doing my best to: understand your question, but, if I'm off base, please resubmit it. It's generally unnecessary to do blood work to diagnose & treat a skin infection. An experienced physician can rely on her clinical skills to tell if antibiotics are indicated and, if so, which one is best. What matters most is whether or not your boyfriend is getting better. Best wishes. Dr. Anne.

Staph infection: Staph infections can be serious, especially if he organism is a MRSA type. I would follow the bite site carefully. If it does not seem to be making progress, have him visit his provider for evaluation and possible antibiotic follow up.
