A member asked:

I have one old mercury filling. can i get autism or any other bad thing from it? i heard it breaks down over time. should i get it removed and replace

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No autism issue: Despite the scary stuff some people post on the internet, there is no proven danger from mercury-containing dental fillings that are in good shape. If a filling needs repair or replacement, one can ask his dentist about replacing it. Otherwise, as the saying goes, "Don't sweat the small stuff". Our world is filled with toxic substances, and that old amalgam filling is not what's going to kill us.
