A member asked:

I have mono and my tongue has these small painful bumps here and there and a yellowish white coating on it. what does this mean??

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Part of illness: Getting a coated tongue can be part of sore throat associated with mono or strep throat. They are a result of papillae prominence on the tongue. It should get better over time. Good oral hygiene helps during this time. They should be seen if ulcers/ sores are seen.
