Patience: It is true that weight gain is real. It is because you lose the stimulating effect of the nicotine from smoking on your metabolism . The metabolic rate is reduced when you are not smoking. You can boost the metabolism by exercise.Hands and mouth needing something. This leads to indiscriminate eating and snacking. So be careful.Taste comes back since the hair cells in the nose come back to life agai

Weight gain: after smoking cessation is quite natural. Try and replace food with a non caloric item such as gum, as much of the snacking is to replace cigarettes. Other than that, stay the course, and the extra weight should vanish in time. Hope this helps!

It may be muscle: mass weight. A small amount of weight gain, in the range of 5-10 lbs, is quite common in people when they quit smoking. Your BMI is quite good. If you have a trainer (or health care professional) they can help you determine your body fat percentage. If that is normal, then cutting back on vigorous training may reduce muscle mass some, but where you are is not unhealthy. Congrats on quitting!!
