Inflammation therapy: Probably an area of inflammation. If it persists, you may have a reaction to the material in the metal. The metals used are supposed to be pure, but are not. If it is a reaction to the metal, no choice but to remove it. Note: this doesn't mean you are allergic to gold or silver. In tongue studs there are often all kinds of "impurities."
