Never: Having an examination is never improper. There are many anatomically normal structures under the tongue that may appear to you as unusual. Ask your Dentist for a examination and, if required, treatment recommendations.

Tongue and cheek: The best approach at this time is to visit with your Dentist. if he/she can not help ask for a referral to an Oral Medicine specialist.
