I was working outside yesterday and fell on my side. i noticed a discoloration and a lump where i fell. could it be a clot? its quite painful.

Hematoma.: This would usually be a hematoma (contained blood under the skin) or ecchymosis (contained blood within the skin - black-and-blue mark). This would be an unusual mechanism for clot formation, meaning clotted blood within a blood vessel.
