Depends on the scale: If using an accurate scale, 5 pounds gained is 5 pounds gained. Of course, one could have recorded the weight(s) incorrectly, or could be wearing heavier clothes, or carrying too many things in her pockets. Eating more calories than one uses causes extra calories to be stored as fat... that's how a normal body functions. 4000 calories will be about 1 pound of stored fat, ready to be used today!
