Sinus infection?: Chronic sinusitis is a common cause for loss in smell and taste function and would be significant nasal congestion. Nasonex (mometasone) may not work on all cases and thus you may need an alternate approach. If problem persists despite restoration of nasal patency (able to breathe through nose freely), I would consider a CT sinus
