Many causes: There are many causes for turbinate hypertrophy although allergic rhinitis is one of the most common ones. You didn't mention as to how long you have had this problem. In the meanwhile, be sure that you aim the Nasonex (mometasone) towards the outside direction of the nose and not straight in. Again, see your doctor to find out why.

Allergies: See an allergist to have better control of your allergies, they may want to change your medications or see if you are a candidate for allergy shots, they will help you now that your medications are no longer controlling your congestion.

Turbinates: There are many different procedures to reduce turbinate hypertrophy, The goal is to reduce hypertrophied tissue while maintaining the mucosal surface, as the turbinates serve an important function. Be sure to have your nose evaluated by a board certified otolaryngologist.
