Fever reducer...: Most fever and cough in an otherwise normal 8 month old is caused a virus. Usually there are no meds no kill the virus, so you try to make the patient feel better. Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen for fever (no aspirin) can help. Cough medicines do not work for kids this age, and sometimes can have side effects. Keep child well hydrated. Hope he feels better soon.
