A member asked:

I know someone my age who suddenly died and this shook me up. i want heart tests cause its better safe than sorry. but insurance wont approve them?

Self-pay: Insurance means a company collects money from each of its clients who buy the insurance coverage. The money (called premiums) would be a lot higher if "medically unnecessary" tests are paid for by insurance. Even if you don't mind paying double premiums or higher, your neighbors may not agree with you. Thus, just pay out of pocket for "medically unnecessary" tests, and do not expect any coverage.
