Prozac (fluoxetine) use: Should be undertaken for management of a specific well defined condition ( major depression ) or as an adjunct to bipolar disorder. Intermittent use is not recommended for a number of reasons. it can in be used in rare instances to help with coming off another SSRI antidepressant. Because it is inaffective in short term use ( it takes 10 to 25 days to work and may require dose titration )
