May be: Side effects are unpredictable, hydroxyzine is rather a stronger antihistamine than Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) you don't want to combine them unless under doctor's supervision. As for taking hydroxyzine daily, some do but again under doctor's advice and supervision. Tolerance can develop, meaning that you have to increase the dose to get the same effect, best wishes
