Metabolic syndrome : Metabolic syndrome defined as increase abdominal girth, high blood pressure, impaired fasting glucose, elevated triglycerides and low HDL. To treat, first make lifestyle modifications (improve diet with decrease carbs, exercise, lose weight). If no improvement in 3-6mths, medications should be considered to treat high blood pressure (diuretics), metformin, &cholesterol lowering meds (e.g. Statins)
