Inhaled insulin: Hi. For type 1 diabetes and for insulin dependent type 2, you need insulin. Period. I'm guessing you're type 2 since we type 1's don't mind shots. The FDA recently approved an inhaled rapidly acting insulin (Afrezza), so it should be available soon. If you're type 1, you'll still need your basal insulin. If you're type 2, you might be able to get by on pills and fast acting inhaled insulin only.
