Brown spot: This may be due to some toe nail trauma from shoes and may persist for a more prolonged period. Nevertheless if it shows no signs of fading, have it examined by a podiatrist or a dermatologist to be sure.

How to nail it...: These type of nail color changes can stump even the experts. I recommend that patients take serial images with their cameras, over a several week period. This will memorialize any changes in size, color and location on the nail. If the condition does not improve, then expert help is a must. The diagnosis and treatment plan are much easier to establish with this type of documentation.
