Since the ALS Ice: Bucket Challenge in 2014 & the movie HAWKING, awareness of ALS has increased a lot. It may have raised awareness too much in some ways. ALS is relatively rare, affecting <.006 % of Americans. It starts with subtle & painless, but progressive, muscle weakness. There are many causes of twitching, including anxiety and stimulants like caffeine & nicotine. Ask your doc for more info! Dr. Anne.

Twitching: You may be describing hyper-reflexia which can be caused when there is pressure on the spinal cord. It is important to image all areas of the spinal cord above where the nerve roots exit the spinal canal. This may include lumbar, thoracic, cervical or even the brain. This may represent an emergency. See a doctor today.
