Close follow up: With a hematologist, low platelets count can happen after a viral infection, and can recover, but till then your child need to be closely monitored, avoid bumps, falls, cuts, as much as you can, see what would the hematologist/pediatrician give your child for treatment, stay close to the hospital, till recovery or increase of platelets count to a safer level with or without treatment, best wishes
