A member asked:

9-yr old son dx w/itp after a virus. is this easily treated/cured? do most of these situations turn out ok? also, will it be obvious from blood wk if it's itp or leukemia? are his risks for leukemia now higher?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This disorder usually resolves within weeks or months. Rarely there are some that become chronic. It is not leukemia nor does it have a direct relationship to it. In the right hands simple testing confirms the diagnosis.
