Kidney stones: Kidney stones can definitely cause both microscopic blood or grossly noticeable blood in the urine, but not necessarily proteinuria. They don't cause weight loss per se,though. Protein in urine is usually a sign of kidney disease from inflammation, high blood pressure,diabetic nephropathy, or tumor.
