It is not normal for the kidneys to decrease in size. Kidney stones are an indication of in sufficient fluid intake and removal. Protien in the urine is an indication of kidney damage and malfunction. Go back and ask your doctor exactly what you need to do to treat and correct this problem if possible.

Size of the kidneys does not change much. Your findings require investigation by a nephrologist/urologist to find cause. Good luck
