A member asked:

What is the likelihood of a new subpleural nodule (1 cm by 1 cm) being malignant? showed up in annual ct scan. have had sarcoma, breast, and melanoma

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It depends1: In a patient with prior history of cancer, lung or pleural based nodule can be due to cancer especially if the nodule is new(not seen in prior CT scan/s of your chest). A short follow up CT scan(2 monts from now) can be very helpful to determine if it is growing in which case it would indicate likely metastasis from one of your previous cancers. PET scan is another test that can helpful to define
