Blood pressure: Walking is a great exercise for those who are just getting started. It may tend to lower the blood pressure a little. Owning a pet (especially a dog) also lowers BP. But if your BP is consistently elevated it should be evaluated by a doctor and treated with medicine to reduce the long term risk of stroke, heart disease, and kidney damage from untreated hypertension (high blood pressure.)
