Not inevitable.: HPV 16 is a high risk strain of the virus but it is not inevitable that you will develop cervical cancer. It is important to follow up and have your pap smears. Also, don't smoke, exercise regularly, maintain a healthy diet and get plenty of sleep. These things will keep your immune system functioning at its best which can help your body to clear the HPV virus. Hope this helps.

You may wish to get HPV vaccine to prevent other HPV strains. You may consult this site for more info. http://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/infectious-agents/hpv-fact-sheet
