It's not too much: Iron supplements (ferrous sulfate or ferrous gluconate) usually come in tablets of 325 mg which release about 65 mg of elemental iron into your system . A standard recommendation is to start with 1 tablet twice a day swallowed with orange juice or a liquid high in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and to increase the dosage to 1 tablet 3 to 4 times a day till your stools become dark black.
