Comments: MRI's can visualize spinal canal problems very well, even at the standard 1.5 T machines, but does not always pick up disc fragments or all bone spurs due to angular positioning. Not unusual, at surgery to find a few areas not clearly delineated, but that is why the surgeon checks out the entire area. Hope you recover fully.

MRI accuracy: MRI abnormalities need to be correlated with a medical complaint or diagnosis, there are millions of people with abnormal MRI and no complaints or symptoms, just never tested. Now would be a good time to consult a spine specialist to advise you. Second optnions are also very valuable.
