Spina Bifida &: Spinal Dysraphism, "mild Spina Bifida", can be associated with syringomyelia, a collection of cerebrospinal fluid within the spinal cord or if cystic, a syrinx, sometimes without a Chiari Malformation (congenital anomaly of the cerebellum), hydrocephalus or a tethered cord. Both can also be associated with benign fatty tumors, lipomas. Malignant spinal cord tumors would be much less likely.
