A member asked:

T-spine mri findings show "small posterior disc extrusion is noted at superior t6 level with associated ventral cord deformity/minimal impingement." what does this mean? my {young inexperienced pa} neurologist downplayed it?

Clinical correlation: The meaning stems from what your symptoms are and what your exam findings are and why you had the MRI in the first place. If there is pain in that area, then THAT slipped disc pushing into the spinal cord could be the cause. If the MRI was done for some other reason and there is no pain, that disc may not be meaningful. It means there is material from the disc out of place however.

Correlations: It is not unusual to uncover mild degenerative changes in the vertebral column as we age. Your disc has likely suffered some prior wear and tear causing it to get "extruded". On the surface, there seems to be no risk to spinal cord, nerve, etc. Does this area correlate with symptoms (?pain).? This is NOT a surgical or aggressive problem, and likely represents coincidental material.
