Hyperextension: If you don't remember any trauma that would have caused this, it may be just normal for your knees to hyperextend somewhat. That being said, a hyperextended knee will leave you more at risk for other injuries if you do have trauma, such as acl damage. There is no nervous/cerebral issue that would cause knee hyperextension.
