A 28-year-old male asked:

what does it mean if geodon (ziprasidone) doesn't create sedation anymore? does it mean its ineffective? if it doesn't put to sleep anymore does it still aid sleep?

Depends: Many factors to consider in order to answer.. What dose are you on? How long have you been taking it? Are you taking it with food? Why were you prescribed it in the first place? Although one of the side effects is potential sedation, not all patients have that experience. Recommend discussion with your doctor to get further clarification as to the desired results. Hope this helps. All the best.

Not many: I don't think any of the prescription sleeping pills are safe. Otcs contain antihistamines that can decrease milk supply, so that's not ideal either. Perhaps the best "sleeping pill" would be warm milk, a relaxing massage, or snuggle time with your partner.

Sleep Apnea: Snoring can be a sign that you have sleep apnea. This will cause you to have periods during sleep when you stop breathing following by a recovery phase after your brain "wakes up". The headaches upon waking up are a sign that you are retaining carbon dioxide. Treatment is available and will allow you to obtain a restful sleep without the headaches.

Obesity can cause the same symptoms. The sleep apnea usually improves with significant weight loss. have your doctor refer you to a pulmonary medicine soecialist for a sleep study immediately and weight loss specialist if necessary.

It's possible but...: Realize that a person can have a seizure for many reasons. Having a seizure does not have to be related to his medication, his diet, his activities, etc...

Yes: Sleep deprivation has many side effects. I believe that they are similar to smoking, drugs, and alcohol.
