A member asked:

Had a benign-looking mole surgically excised for cosmetic reasons. for some reason the dr did not send for pathology. do i have any options now to check the tissue to make sure the area is benign? or do i have to wait to see if something grows back?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tissue availability: If the doctor did not submit the mole for examination by a pathologist at the time of removal, the tissue is unlikely to be available now. It is very unlikely that mole was anything other than benign, however, one needs to keep in mind that a pathologist makes the final diagnosis. I wish you good health.
