I have had a large flat mole (nevus) for years it now has a raised section which has changed colour and feels rough, is there any other reason other than melanoma as cause of change?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor. You may watch and wait. If the mole doubles in size, becomes irregular in size, shape or color, bleeds, ulcerates or develops a nodule, see a doctor. Wish you good health!
