Even worse: Liquors are alcohol, which contains 7 calories/gram. Sugar has only 4 calories/gram. Remember, it's not the sugar you eat, but the calories. No one has even gotten diabetes from eating sugar, except when it's in high calorie, high fat food that you ate to excess.

Not same: While sugar liquors are not exactly the same as simple sugars, they do still affect your blood sugar. Many experts agree that the carbs contained in sugar liquors count 2:1 toward your carbohydrate count, others say they count the same toward your carbohydrate totals. They are not free, though!
