Diabetic condition and what to do when blood sugar goes down for type 2

Depends on symptoms: No matter how low your blood sugar goes, you don't necessarily have to feel cold, clammy or lightheaded. If you do feel those things you might want to swallow some real granulated sugar, of which you should always have a packet or two in your pocket or purse. If it is not so urgent, but you feel it coming on, you could try something less dramatic like a cracker or two, a banana, like that.

Medication/diet: Patients with type 2 dm tend to have hypoglycemia because of high Insulin levels which may be stimulated by partiularly high carb meals. A nutritionist should work with such patients to help them avoid this. However, medications used to treat diabetes can also cause lows. Either explanation merits a call to your doctor as this problem could possibly be circumvented to some degree.
