6-12 months after: This is an excellent question I get asked on a semi-routine basis from my patients. In my practice, we confirm with x-rays that the osteotomy healed. If the x-rays show healing, I prefer to leave the screws in for 12 months after surgery prior to removing them. However, I have removed the screws at 6 months after surgery if there is a compelling reason to do so, such as severe kneeling pain.
