Varies: The pain varies some from person to person and surgeon to surgeon. But by definition, an osteotimy does involve a cut in the bone and so the pain is somewhat similar to a fracture. A block can help and is usually given immediately preoperatively. Typical pain medications used are oral narcotics such as hydrocodone or oxycodone.
