Suggests RBC damage: An elevated retic suggests that the body is making new red bloods cells at a faster pace than average. Ldh is an enzyme found in many different tissues in the body, type 1 is predominant in rbc's and heart, so an elevated count supports that there is cell damage to the rbcs, but the elevated ldh is not damaging to the body itself. Your son's doctor is testing to find the cause. Best wishes.
