A member asked:

I know from previous response that fine diesel exhaust particulate matter can get "stuck" in the lungs. but what happens to it if it is not cleared? does it stay there forever? does it dissolve into the bloodstream and cause cardiovascular probs?

Diesel exhaust: Exposure to diesel exhaust has been shown to correlate with an increased risk of lung cancer in humans. It has also been shown to trigger episodes of reduced oxygen supply to the heart muscle. There is little doubt that diesel exhaust is an important environmental and occupational hazard.
