Depends: If your MIL has no major symptoms and just some burning on urination, etc. than an outpt course of antibiotics and increasing fluids while following up closely with your Doctor would be fine. If however, she is feverish, shaking, chills, and appears sicker, etc. than often a person may be admitted for treatment and observation. Have her seen by the Dr. to decide her best action plan.

Two things: 1:She needs to see her doctor about klebsiella. 2: She is not a "diabetic' - she has "diabetes". Her goal should be to gradually rid herself of diabetes. She must have a dietitian see her and slowly teach her how to rid herself of diabetes. Yes, it can and should happen - not overnight but within the next year. If she does things properly she will be telling all her family and friends.
