It takes bone : 6-8 weeks to heal. Your dr will decide based on X-rays and healing.

6-8 wks. No flannel.: Expect the immobilization process to take from 6-8 weeks, typically with the initial use of crutches . Of course, this varies from fracture to fracture. The method of immobilization may change as healing occurs. Intermittent x-rays, taken during healing, may permit the use of an ambulatory boot at sometime in the later stages of healing. Follow up therapy may also be necessary for full recovery.
