A member asked:

If my cbc shows infection. what would be my doctors next step?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Manage it: CBC itself seldom "shows infection"; I can shoot my white cells to 20,000 by taking a cold water swim. Labs are helpful only adjuncts to the history and physical exam. A few signs on the smear do indicate infection -- microbes in the white cells, for example -- but you'd have been admitted to the hosptial. Best wishes.
